Advising
Many of the required chemistry classes in the B.S. Chemistry degree program have
specific prerequisites. Students majoring in chemistry need to be aware that
the Department of Chemistry requires a minimum grade of C- in all prerequisite
chemistry courses. For example, a minimum grade of C- in CHEM 115 is needed for
a chemistry major to enroll in CHEM 116.
Advising is provided by a dedicated academic advisor to all chemistry students beginning before or when they declare the major. Questions about advising should be directed to chemistry@mail.wvu.edu or to Mr. Mark Schraf (Chemistry Academic Advisor) at mark.schraf@mail.wvu.edu.
The Chemistry Academic Advisor encourages students (new, current, transfer) who are considering majoring in chemistry to email for an appointment (in-person or virtual) to discuss their options.
