Dr. Wang's research interests include cascade cyclizations of unsaturated systems; synthesis of bowl-shaped polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and helicenes; development of new synthetic methods for heteroaromatic analogues of ellipticine and camptothecin alkaloids.

Dr. Wang recently received a grant of $420,000 from the National Science Foundation for his proposal “Syntheses and Structures of Functionalized [n]Cycloparaphenylenes and Related Carbon Nanohoops”. The grant runs from July 1, 2015 to June 30, 2018.
